I'm intrigued to think that today I'm creating a painting for a person I just haven't met yet...when the painting eventually finds the person, then and only then is that painting complete.

Hello!

I'm AnnMarie of
AM Thomas Paintings

As a country mouse from the outskirts of Dublin, a trip into the National Gallery was always a treat when I was younger.  While I of course couldn’t afford the paintings hung there, I could buy my favourites as a poster or card in the Gallery Shop as a consolation.

Art for everyone is an important part of my practise today.  If you connect with one of my paintings, I want you to have it without blowing your budget or breaking the bank.

My background is in architecture and construction, and I’ve spent what feels like a lifetime drawing straight lines; at first by hand and in later years on computer.

Painting in an expressive way is a welcome respite from all that goes with a technical profession; a space to quieten the noises in my head and tune into the simple things in life that make me happy.

You can view some of my work in my first floor studio space at Fisherton Mill, Salisbury.

Sustainability

I do as much as I can to support sustainability but find it difficult to always tick all of the boxes while balancing quality and cost.

Most of my efforts occur in the packaging department where I re-use and re-cycle as much as I can.

Where I do have to purchase products, I try to source responsibly, locally and/or purchase bio-degradable materials.

Starting this year, for each original painting sold, I am donating to JUST ONE Tree,

a non-profit initiative removing CO2 from the atmosphere through global reforestation.

Commissions

I love the challenge of a commission where we work together to agree a size, colour palette and theme so your painting will be personal to you.

As I paint instinctively the final outcome will be a surprise to me and to you.  To this end, there is no obligation to purchase the finished painting if you just don't like it; this way I feel I can paint true to myself and hopefully create something unique to you.

If you're interested in discussing further, just drop an email to amg-freelance@hotmail.co.uk and I'll get back to you.
