Original Paintings

A B O U T
The most interesting fact about me is that I've had a very long career in Architecture and Construction.
Sometimes when I paint, it feels like I'm trying to paint this past life away - it's where the 'squiggly' lines come from and why I'm always looking to nature for my inspiration.
Living and working in the countryside, surrounded by sheep, horses and all rural life and nature have to offer - there's so much here to keep me inspired but it's the peace that comes from being outside that I really want to capture in my work; when I'm there I feel forced to breathe, to take stock and find hope in just the smallest of details...a new bud thriving on its own or that little flash of blue sky through the blue/purple storm clouds.
Painting subjects that uplift me, with colours that excite me, using marks that make me happy. Using handwritten annotations, layers of mixed media and the use of vibrant and varied colour.
My work is available in a variety of sizes to suit a range of budgets, all originals and I’m always happy to discuss commissions.

I love the challenge of a commission where we work together to agree a size, colour palette and theme so your painting will be personal to you.
As I paint instinctively the final outcome will be a surprise to me and to you. To this end, there is no obligation to purchase the finished painting if you just don't like it; this way I feel I can paint true to myself while creating something unique to you.

Having grown up in a 'make, mend and do' household, I'm always looking for ways to make my practice sustainable; from sourcing the materials I use, to reducing wasteful processes and re-using/re-cycling where ever I can.
And for each original painting sold up to the end of 2024, I've made donations to JUST ONE Tree, a non-profit initiative removing CO2 from the atmosphere through global reforestation.
Since 2025, I've been concentrating on reforestation projects closer to home and now donate to AVON NEEDS TREES for each original painting sold.
ANT is a registered charity creating new, permanent woodland at a landscape scale to tackle the climate and nature emergencies.

If you're local to Salisbury, you'll find a selection of my work to view and purchase in the gallery shop at Fisherton Mill, a large independent gallery set in an airy and spacious converted Victorian grain mill, where you can while away the hours, shopping and dining in this unique courtyard setting.
